RECon returns! But not as RECon. It's now ICSC Las Vegas.

RECon’s back in Vegas this May…well, sort of.

With the future of retail-only centers now plainly in question, the International Council of Shopping Centers dropped that title and goes by its initials alone. Hence, the New York-based association of retailers, center developers, and brokers will be tagging all its events with the ICSC brand. RECon becomes ICSC 2022 Las Vegas and will take place May 22-24 at the Las Vegas Convention Center

Its top regional conferences will now be known as ICSC@Monterey and ICSC@ Whistler. Topical conferences will fly under the ICSC+ brand, such as the ICSC+Law Symposium, and local dealmaking shows will use the ICSC@ tag

This year’s Las Vegas show will be one day shorter than RECon shows of the past. Conferences and special sessions will begin on Sunday, May 22. The exhibit floor will be open on 23rd from 9:00 to 5:00 and on the 24th from 9:00 to 3:00.

Attendees must be fully vaccinated to participate and present proof that they, at least two weeks previously, have received their second dose of the Pfizer or Moderna vaccines or a single-dose of Johnson & Johnson’s Janssen vaccine.

There will be no on-site registration for ICSC Las Vegas. Registration is currently open on the show’s site.

ICSC cancelled its usual New York Dealmaking Show in 2021, instead substituting a Las Vegas show at the convention center’s new West Hall. Attendance was pegged at just under 10,000, less than a third of the regular gate. The exhibit floor was fairly empty on the show’s final day, and that influenced ICSC’s decision to lop a day off this year’s Las Vegas show.

“We’re still expecting a good crowd—maybe not as robust as pre-pandemic, but definitely bigger than the December show. As of now, there are still mask mandates, but that could change,” said Stephanie Cegielski, ICSC’s VP of public relations.
