Winn-Dixie's unveils new format
Grocer Winn-Dixie said it has unveiled its new prototype in south Florida, located in Margate on the site of a former Publix supermarket.
According to a report Monday by the Miami Herald, the chain, which emerged from bankruptcy in 2006, is debuting the prototype after a new-store dryspell in Florida since 2004.
The prototype features such amenities as a wood-burning rotisserie oven, fresh flower shop, an expanded deli with prepared meals, and global cuisine station.
The company said it plans to open five new prototype stores open or under construction in the next year.
