Winn-Dixie opens second remodeled SaveRite store

3/31/2010

Jacksonville, Fla. Winn-Dixie Stores has opened its second remodeled SaveRite store in Jacksonville, Fla.

The 47,000-sq.-ft. warehouse-style store in Jacksonville’s Westside is patterned after a SaveRite on the Northside that reopened in January 2009 with lower pricing on thousands of items and monthly specials.

“In moving forward with this design concept, we spent a great deal of time reviewing our customers’ shopping preferences and how the SaveRite concept was fulfilling customer needs,” said Dan Portnoy, Winn-Dixie’s chief merchandising and marketing officer.

Portnoy said the company was able to cut costs and lower prices at the pilot SaveRite store on the Northside by focusing only on those items and services that customers wanted most.

The Westside store includes a full-service seafood department, enhanced produce and meat departments and an in-store pharmacy.
