WinCo coming to Texas center

2/19/2016

Boise, Idaho-based discount grocer WinCo Foods will develop a new ground-up 82,077-sq.-ft. anchor store at Trinity Valley Shopping Center in Carrollton, Texas.

The new WinCo will be developed at the site of a former Target anchor store at the center. Following the closure, the ownership of the center, Josey Trinity Mills Ltd., acquired the vacant building in October 2015. The site will be demolished starting around April 2016, and the newly developed WinCo is scheduled to open in early 2017.

The project’s leasing team, Matt Luedtke and Steve Gray with The Weitzman Group, along with Cencor director of asset management Randy Stebbins and asset manager Joe Lea, worked on behalf of the center’s ownership to negotiate the acquisition of the vacant Target and to then bring in WinCo for the new anchor store. The grocer was represented by DWC Commercial and Venture Commercial.

“We are very pleased to have the opportunity to develop a new store in Carrollton,” said Michael Read, WinCo’s VP, legal and public affairs. “We look forward to bringing great values and great service to our Carrollton customers.”

Stebbins will direct the development of the new anchor store on behalf of the center’s ownership. Cencor VP of construction Kathy Detrick is managing the construction of the redevelopment. Cencor Realty Services manages Trinity Valley under the direction of property manager Zoe Lopez.
