West Elm to open store in New Orleans

7/15/2014

Brooklyn, N.Y. -- Home furnishings retailer West Elm will open in New Orleans on July 24.

Located in the Lower Garden District, the approximately 10,000-sq.-ft. store is designed with installations inspired by New Orleans culture and will feature a local assortment made by Louisiana-based artisans that includes art, leather goods, vases and stationery.

“We are excited to open our first store in Louisiana and support the design community by partnering with Louisiana-based artisans for our local assortment, limited-edition gift bag and in-store installations,” said Jim Brett, president of West Elm, which is owned by Williams-Sonoma. “The West Elm New Orleans store preserves the historical features of the building the store occupies. We’ve also embraced the local culture and architecture of the city by adding art installations using reclaimed musical instruments and installed fixtures that reflect the spirit of Magazine Street.”
