Watch out Black Friday, Year of the Monkey is here

Retailers are always looking for new promotional opportunities and with the arrival on the Lunar New Year a mall operator in upstate New York hopes to generate shopper traffic with a range of Chinese-inspired activities.



Several noteworthy tenants at Fashion Outlets of Niagara Falls, New York, will be celebrating the Lunar New Year of 2016 with a variety of special promotions, offers and events through Feb. 14. Throughout the promotional period, which began Feb. 1, shoppers will be presented with special promotions from various retailers in addition to traditional Lunar New Year Red Envelopes distributed at the guest services counter. The envelopes contain a complimentary commemorative Year of the Monkey Green Savings card and special offers from participating stores.



Of particular note are promotional activities scheduled for Feb. 13 from noon to 4 p.m. Near the mall’s Saks Off 5th and Forever 21 stores, the Niagara Falls Culinary Institute will have an informational display and a Jasmine Green Tea Infused Truffle demonstration. There will be a Chinese cuisine cooking demonstration at the Le Creuset store, a strawberry dipping demonstration at Godiva and at the Zwilling store an Asian inspired cooking demonstration with the J.A. Henckel team. On Feb. 14, A dragon dance will be performed near the Brooks Brothers store by the Golden Summit Martial Arts Institute. The same group will perform a martial arts demonstration.
