Wal-Mart renovating Wisconsin stores

9/10/2009

Milwaukee, Wis. Wal-Mart Stores is renovating 14 locations in Wisconsin this year, according to The Business Journal of Milwaukee.

The move is a part of a corporate initiative to renovate approximately 70% of its existing stores across the country over the next five years.

Among the improvements being made are a new layout, wider aisles, low-profile shelving, bright interior paint scheme, enhanced lighting and signage, the report said.

The remodeled stores will feature a more open shopping environment with wider aisles that contain no product displays. Walmart also is aligning the departments that customers shop most frequently.

The stores remain open during the renovations, while the majority of construction and moving will be completed during the overnight hours.
