Wal-Mart Looks to Tenn. for New Supercenter Prototype

6/27/2008

Bentonville, Ark. Wal-Mart Stores is proposing to bring its new Supercenter prototype to Cordova, Tenn., potentially the first location in the state and one of a handful in the country, according to the Memphis Business Journal.

The report noted that the prototype has been submitted to a handful of municipalities around the country, and the proposed Cordova store could become one of the first in the nation to don the new "look and feel," the report said.

The new site plan for the Wal-Mart Supercenter will be presented to the Shelby County Land Use Control Board July 10, the report said.

It was withdrawn from consideration earlier this year, according to the report. The store has drawn opposition from neighbors and concerns from the Memphis and Shelby County Division of Planning and Development, the report said.
