Gainesville, Fla. -- The developer of Celebration Pointe, a 225-acre mixed-used regional development located in Gainesville, Florida announced that its work on the public infrastructure improvement phase of the $200 million project is on schedule. Celebration Pointe partner Ralph Conti made the announcement.
“We are very pleased with our progress and expect to begin vertical construction by early-to-mid-summer,” said Conti. “The thousands of drivers that pass by our site on Interstate 75 each day have witnessed just how aggressively we have been working to prepare the site for vertical construction. It’s hard to miss the125-acres of highly visible real estate. In addition to the site preparation, we are making excellent progress on the construction of a multi-lane bridge that will span the interstate.”
Located at the intersection of Interstate 75 and Archer Road, the 1 million-square-foot Celebration Pointe will feature approximately 400,000 sq. ft. of entertainment uses, specialty retail and restaurants. Anchored by Bass Pro Shops and a state-of-the-art 10-screen national luxury-brand theatre, the project will also contain approximately 300,000 sq. ft. of Class-A office space including the new home of transportation software giant Info Tech.
A new 120-plus room Hotel Indigo will introduce the area’s first branded boutique hotel experience. When completed, the project will contain a mix of approximately 1,000 multi-family first-in-the-market residential units.
“Celebration Pointe is not only one of the more unique projects under development in the country today, we believe it is destined to become a model for development nationwide,” said Conti. “We are building something that is very forward thinking, very different and very special. Gainesville has many great attributes that have put it on the national map including the University of Florida, Shands Hospital and its strong, knowledge-based workforce.”
The response to the project has exceeded our expectations, Conti added.
“Everyone recognizes Celebration Pointe’s dynamics cannot be replicated in this region,” he said. “The high visibility, multiple access points and location along the Interstate 75 corridor are significant. When you consider the adjacent 100-acre conservancy and miles of walking and biking trails, and couple that with a major emphasis on sustainability and multi-modal transportation, it would be challenging to find anything quite like Celebration Pointe anywhere else in the country.”
Pre-development work on the project began in August 2014. Public infrastructure work for the project began in April of 2014. Phase I of Celebration Pointe is scheduled to open in fall 2016.
