Integrative medicine guru Andrew Weil’s high-health entry into mall dining is making a move into the Northeast.
True Food Kitchens, whose menu is packed with nutrient-dense ingredients, will be one of the new tenants taking part in Simon’s “transformative renovation” of The Shops at Riverside in Hackensack, N.J. It is due to open in 2020.
The rapidly expanding chain operates more than 30 locations nationwide, with heavy concentrations in California, Texas, and Florida, but little presence in the Northeast. Other new locations coming on stream for True Food include The Julia at St. Charles in New Orleans, Oakbrook Center in Illinois, Reston Town Center in Virginia, Easton Town Center in Columbus, and The Forum Shops at Caesars in Las Vegas.
“We’re a brand that is as passionate about our food as we are the local community, so we look forward to sharing our mission to eat better, feel better and celebrate a passion for better living with Hackensack,” said Shannon Keller, chief marketing officer of True Food Kitchen.
Menu items at True Food include Heirloom Tomato & Watermelon, Cauliflower Polenta, Inside Out Quinoa Burger, and Flourless Chocolate Cake. It is also known for crafted beverages such as Watermelon Lemonade, Lavender Iced Tea, and a Hangover RX made from pineapple, orange, honey, and coconut water.
