Tri-Land breaks ground on Cherokee South Plaza redevelopment
Overland Park, Kan. Westchester, Ill.-based Tri-land Properties announced Thursday that it has begun construction on the redevelopment of Cherokee South Plaza in Overland Park, Kan.
“Cherokee South has been a community resource for years, and we are looking forward to delivering an improved destination with many upgrades and additional retail offerings,” said Tri-Land executive VP acquisitions Hugh Robinson.
Tri-Land’s redevelopment of the 118,000-sq.-ft. center includes the complete demolition of one building, the construction of three new buildings and the addition of many new retail tenants. Current tenants include Hallmark, H&R Block, Paul Mitchell School, and several local and regional retail and service providers. Jimmy John’s Gourmet Sandwiches has also signed a lease. The improved Cherokee South Plaza will include outdoor patios, tree-lined walkways, sidewalk planters and public spaces for neighborhood use.
A 15,000-sq.-ft. stand-alone Walgreens is slated to open later this month.
The project is scheduled for summer 2010 completion.
