Trademark launches micro-restaurant program to attract local entrepreneurs

9/30/2015

Fort Worth, Texas -- Trademark Property Co. is launching a micro-restaurant program dedicated to attracting unique restaurant concepts to Waterside in Fort Worth, Texas.

Trademark will lease three to four 600-sq.-ft. to 1,000-sq.-ft. micro-restaurant spaces exclusively planned for the property to local and regional businesses. To provide local entrepreneurs and artisan merchants with the opportunity to lease space they might not otherwise be able to invest in, Trademark will offer smaller spaces, lower startup costs, shorter term leases, free outdoor seating and generous tenant improvement packages, as well as other benefits.

“During community engagement sessions, we heard a resounding call for local and artisan merchants. We’re answering that call by committing to only lease these micro-restaurant spaces to the best local or regional concepts,” said Terry Montesi, CEO, Trademark Property Co. “Whether you’re an entrepreneurial minded chef looking to open your own business, or an established restauranteur with a new concept idea, we encourage you to reach out and tell us about it.”

The micro-restaurants will be located around The Grove, Waterside’s central public space. Designed around several heritage trees, The Grove will serve as the heart of the Waterside development, featuring shaded outdoor seating for several restaurants, public art incorporating the site’s history and the re-use of existing playground and amusement ride equipment, a community pavilion, a community promotion shed, and activity areas for all ages.

The micro-restaurant program is a part of Trademark’s Conscious Place initiative, a stakeholder-driven development model that aims to ensure its properties are more than just places of commerce, but also places of community and meaning. As Trademarks’ first ground-up Conscious Place project, all aspects of Waterside’s development are being evaluated for their potential to educate, inspire and engage stakeholders; commitment to sustainability; and connection to the local community.

In addition to The Grove, Conscious Place elements will include an extension of the Trinity Trails, consisting of a trailhead with a bicycle repair and air station, free, chilled filtered water for re-fillable bottles, an internal trail system, a signature bridge, canoeing, paddle boarding, kayaking, an urban garden, and a riverfront amphitheater, to name a few.

Waterside broke ground on its first phase of development in 2014 and announced its first anchor tenant: a 45,000-sq.-ft. Whole Foods Market, the first in Fort Worth. Most recently, REI was signed as the second anchor, also a first in Fort Worth. Phase I is in process with roads installed and buildings well underway. It includes the retail project, The Grove and the first 383 multi-family units, which will be substantially complete by spring 2016 when the retail and restaurants are projected to open.

At full build out, Waterside will be a walkable district including 200,000 sq. ft. of retail space and0 riverside restaurants, 800 multifamily residential units, two to three hotels, office buildings, and potential for additional high density single family housing, much of which will be situated along the Trinity River.
