Tim Hortons to open 13 locations in New York City
New York City Canadian doughnut and coffee chain Tim Hortons will open 13 stores in New York City on Monday in former Dunkin' Donuts' locations, according to a franchisee, the Associated Press reported. The Riese Organization, which operates 113 restaurants in the New York City area, said it will run the new restaurants.
The sites will be Tim Hortons' first in New York City.
Riese said the sites will close as Dunkin' Donuts retail locations on Friday, and reopen as Tim Hortons locations on Monday.
The company said it agreed about five years ago to terminate its franchise relationship with Dunkin' Donuts, owned by the privately held Dunkin' Brands, by July 31.
