Target gears up for Manhattan debut
Minneapolis Target plans to hold its grand opening for its first store in Manhattan, in East Harlem, on July 25.
Target said the store would feature more space devoted to fresh food, everyday essentials and home basics geared for apartment living.
There will be plenty of access for shoppers, with a pedestrian bridge linking mass transit to the store on the second floor of the East River Plaza. A parking deck is also available.
Target has about a half-dozen stores in New York -- in Brooklyn, the Bronx and Queens. It has also occasionally opened temporary “pop-up” stores in Manhattan.
