Subway opens 581 new locations in three months

Milford, Conn. The Subway restaurant chain said Tuesday that from the beginning of July through the end of September, it opened 581 new locations around the world, which account for approximately 700,000 sq. ft. of commercial retail space.

With these latest openings, Subway said the chain's total store count is more than 31,800, including more than 9,000 restaurants in international markets.

Also, within those three months, the Subway chain said it crossed the 400-store mark in Mexico and opened its 300th restaurant in Brazil.

Domestically, the Subway chain reached the 1,100 store milestone in the state of New York, 500 locations in Washington and 400 each in Arizona and Colorado.
