Sembler’s Winter Garden Village recognized for innovative design
St. Petersburg, Fla. The Sembler Co. said Friday that Winter Garden Village at Fowler Groves, developed by Sembler, has been named a winner of the inaugural International Council of Shopping Centers’ U.S. Design and Development Shopping Center Awards.
Winter Garden Village won in the category of “Innovative Design and Development of a New Project over 500,000 sq. ft.”
Winter Garden Village at Fowler Groves is an open-air shopping center divided into three sections: The Exchange, The Crossings, and The Grove.
At 1,150,000 sq. ft., Winter Garden Village is The Sembler Co.’s largest project developed to date. The center opened in November 2007 and is anchored by Target, Lowe’s, Best Buy, Old Navy, Sports Authority and many other retailers.
In fall 2008, Sembler sold majority interest in Winter Garden Village to Cole Real Estate Investors for $180 million. Sembler continues to manage the property.
