Save-A-Lot to double store count
Atlanta Save-A-Lot plans to double its 1,200 U.S. store count in five years, according to The Atlanta Business Chronicle.
“A key part of our growth strategy is the Southeast, and that includes greater Atlanta,” Rick Meyer, VP market development, told The Atlanta Business Chronicle. “We see an opportunity in Atlanta. We have refocused on the city and we feel excited about that.”
Save-A-Lot stores are typically 14,000 sq. ft to 16,000 sq. ft., compared with a 45,000-sq.-ft. to 54,000-sq.-ft. conventional grocery store, and carries fewer items in stores.
The grocer generally carries what consumers buy most often.
