Report: Starbucks plans stores in 50 small Indian cities
Seattle – Starbucks Corp. is reportedly planning to open new stores in 50 Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities in India. According to the India Press, Starbucks has been encouraged enough by growth in Tier 1 Indian cities to target smaller cities in the country.
Starbucks will test a variety of store formats in the smaller cities, including its recently announced smaller-format Express stores and drive-through stores. The new stores will be opened through Tata Starbucks, the joint venture between Starbucks and Indian partner Tata Beverages. Starbucks Tata currently operates 58 Indian stores in the Tier 1 markets of Mumbai, Delhi, Pune, Bangalore, Chennai and Hyderabad.
