Report: Microsoft set to open store

New York City Microsoft will open the first of its branded retail stores on Oct. 22, according to the Wall Street Journal.

The date is in line with the release of the software giant’s next operating system, Windows 7.

The store, in Scottsdale, Ariz., is expected to showcase PCs and mobile phones running Microsoft software, as well as its own Xbox 360 hardware, in a sleek, futuristic environment.
