Report: Best Buy Europe to open four stores this spring

2/22/2010

New York City Best Buy Europe, which is preparing for an assault on the U.K. consumer electronics market, is in advanced talks to acquire two superstores from Homebase, the Financial Times reported. The sites are in Enfield, north London, and Aintree in Liverpool.

The discussions are thought to be part of a number that Best Buy Europe, the joint venture between Best Buy and Carphone Warehouse is having on acquiring U.K. locations. The company plans to open its first stores through this spring, according to the report, with the first sites in Thurrock and Southampton.

An additional four to five stores are planned for the autumn, with 100 across Europe by 2014, the report continued.
