Report: Asda to accelerate small-format store openings

Leeds, England ASDA is planning to open 100 smaller-format stores over the next few years, according to the Financial Times. The United Kingdom’s second-biggest grocer also plans to launch 150 nonfood stores.

ASDA, which is a subsidiary of Wal-Mart, is expected to stress smaller-format stores, online shopping and leveraging the buying power of its parent company.
