Report: Amazon real estate project may be new Amazon Go store

7/3/2019
Amazon’s latest cashierless grocery store is reportedly under construction in Seattle.

According to GeekWire, Amazon is developing a new store in a prime retail location in the Capitol Hill section of Seattle. The e-tailer has been involved with the site, located within a residential building at 600 East Pike Street, since 2015. Conveyance permits with Amazon’s name on them show plans for a 10,400-sq.-ft. store with about 7,000-sq.-ft. of retail selling space at the site. The plans do not show any traditional checkout areas.

Amazon’s name also appears on a construction company document as a client for a project at the site. The company has declined comment. There are currently 13 Amazon Go stores located across the U.S., including four in Seattle. Amazon has also publicly announced an Amazon Go store is coming to Embarcadero Center in San Francisco, where three other Amazon Go stores are operational.
