Report: Amazon to open store
New York City -- Amazon plans to open a store in its Seattle hometown to display and sell its growing line of electronic devices, reported Reuters, which cited industry blog Good E-Reader as its source.
Analysts said Amazon could be inspired by the success of Apple in the retail arena.
“The primary goal of the test is to determine if a physical retail presence can accelerate sales of Kindle devices and follow-on consumption of digital content at an attractive return on invested capital,” Cowen & Co. analyst Jim Friedland wrote in a note to investors on Monday, according to the report.
