Dallas-based real estate investment firm Centennial plans to turn Hawthorn Mall in Vernon Hills, Illinois, into a pedestrian-friendly mixed-use development.
Centennial will replace the former Sears and Carson’s sites that were vacated in 2018, and bring additional retail and dining options, luxury multi-family housing, a regional gourmet grocer and an outdoor gathering space to the property.
“The redevelopment will alter the entire landscape of the center, offering local residents a live-work-play environment that rivals the most vibrant mixed-use destinations in the nation,” said Steven Levin, Centennial’s CEO.
This is the largest capital investment in the property since its grand opening nearly half a century ago.
