In the Jan. 27 edition of SiteTalk, we asked our readers to comment on the recent announcement that Cordish Cos. would build an upscale outlet center and entertainment district near Omaha, Neb., and if that development signaled the beginning of more ground-up projects. “I believe we'll start seeing small-scale developments taking shape in 2012. We're several years away from any large, mixed-use developments or retail centers entering the pipeline. There's just too much vacant space to absorb and it will also take some time for the REITs to deal with their existing portfolios.”
