North Carolina center signs anchors for phase two

A 22,000-sq.-ft. HomeGoods, and a 6,139-sq.-ft. Rack Room Shoes will anchor phase two of New Bern Marketplace, in New Bern, N.C., which is expected to be completed by year’s end.

The Shopping Center Group, the exclusive leasing agent for the center, brokered the deal.

The 330,000-sq.-ft. New Bern Marketplace, which is 90% leased, recently celebrated the grand opening of the largest Harris Teeter in the United States. Other retailers at the center include Academy Sports + Outdoors, Hobby Lobby, Ross Dress for Less, Ulta Beauty, West Marine, and Five Below.

Postal Annex recently signed a lease to join SportClips, Focus Nails and East Cuisine in the space immediately adjacent to Harris Teeter’s fuel pavilion.

“So much excitement has been building around the Harris Teeter alone that the consumer traffic at the center has exceeded our expectations,” said Abbitt Goodwin, partner, Columbia Development. “An incredible amount of pent-up demand for quality retail is overwhelmingly evident in Eastern North Carolina.”

HomeGoods and Rack Room Shoes are expected to open early 2020.
