New York City’s off-price leader to open tenth location

Century 21 Department Store will bring its high-fashions and low prices to a new location in the suburbs.

The company will open an approximately 70,000-sq.-ft., two-level store at Green Acres Mall in Valley Stream, New York, on the South Shore of Long Island. The location will be the company’s tenth location.

The new Century 21 will serve as an anchor for the Sunrise Highway portion of the shopping center. Macerich acquired the 1.8 million-sq.-ft. Green Acres Mall in January 2013 and has since been actively elevating the merchandise mix and shopper experience, including the addition of a recently opened H&M flagship.

In addition, Macerich is currently developing the new, 335,000-sq.-ft. Green Acres Commons next to the mall, which will feature Dick’s Sporting Goods and other large-format stores.

"Century 21 is a sophisticated, marquee anchor for Green Acres that ups the game for this incredibly well-situated regional mall," said Randy Brant, executive VP, real estate, Macerich. "Century 21 is a true destination, and we have been so pleased with its impact since opening last fall at our joint venture project in downtown Philadelphia, which we are now redeveloping as Fashion Outlets of Philadelphia Market East.”

An off-price leader of high-end fashion in the New York City metro area for over 50 years, Century 21 operates nine stores in the New York region. Last fall, it opened its first store outside of the New York Metro, in Philadelphia.
