San Bruno, Calif. -- Sears has opened a store in the heart of the Silicon Valley dedicated to smart technology products for the home.
The retailer’s new “Connected Solutions” flagship is located at The Shops at Tanforan shopping center, in San Bruno, California. The 4,000-sq.-ft. store features a living room, kitchen, nursery, workout room, garage and outdoor area where consumers can experience the benefits of smart technology firsthand.
“Connected Solutions is smart made simple,” said Sears president of consumer electronics and connected solutions Ryan Ciovacco (For an exclusive Q&A with Ciovacco, click here). “ It's more than just buying a device - it's creating an environment that allows our members to see how smart technology has the potential to solve problems, save money and make life easier. Online and in stores across the country, we're leveraging our home services expertise, dedicated technology support and installation network to seamlessly meet the needs of our members, from considering what solutions can simplify their lives to setting them up at home.”
Products in the new store are organized into four categories:
• Simply Entertaining;
• Simply Fit;
• Simply Automated; and
• Simply Secure.
Nationally, Sears is expanding its assortment of smart technology home products to hundreds of stores. According to the retailer, the connected home is one of the fastest-growing categories in consumer electronics. In five years everything will be connected and consumers, whether at home or far away, will be able to control and adjust just about every light, device and appliance within the home.
In addition to the just-opened flagship, Sears currently operates three 2,000-sq.ft. Connected Solutions stores in the Chicago area.
