New Colo. center announced

Loveland, Colo. McWhinney Enterprises announced the impending development of North Park, a 935-acre mixed-use community in Broomfield, Colo. The project, said McWhinney, is planned to be a vibrant community incorporating a balance of urban connectivity, natural open space amenities, and a 175-acre Applied Research Center.

Defined by a series of village and town centers and campuses connected by pedestrian-friendly streets and trail corridors, North Park is designed to align shopping, dining, and entertainment venues side by side with office, research, medical, and residential uses. At full buildout, the developer said North Park will include over 6,200 residences and approximately 17 million sq. ft. of commercial and mixed-use space.

"McWhinney is working diligently with the City and County of Broomfield on the comprehensive plan for North Park," said Troy McWhinney, co-founder and principal of McWhinney. "We are pleased with its progress and know that its ideal location north of Denver will bring opportunities for commercial and mixed-use development for Broomfield."

Park amenities are planned to include connector pedestrian and bicycle trails, an outdoor performance amphitheater, and enhanced wetland and waterways. All amenities will be within close proximity to restaurants and workplaces. Approximately 145 acres of open lands will define North Park's connection to the natural habitats of the region.
