Lowe's is ready to open in San Francisco

10/28/2010

The Lowe's at 491 Bayshore Blvd. will be the first Lowe's in San Francisco when it opens Friday. The company will celebrate an official opening-day party on Nov. 4.

The store is located in the Bayview/Hunter's Point area of the city. Construction began 12 months ago on the site, which has been vacant for nine years and which was formerly occupied by Goodman's Lumber.

The Lowe's will be the first national chain home center in the city. Home Depot at one time had approval to build at the same location. It fought for and won approval in 2005, but Home Depot changed plans last year and abandoned the project.
