Lassiter and Wadkins take over at Bayer Properties

Jeffrey Bayer founded a local property management company in Birmingham, Ala., in 1983. Since then, he and future principal David Silverstein grew the company into a national real estate firm with a mixed-use portfolio of 10 million sq. ft.

The two recently stepped down from their full-time duties to form an innovation center for business in Birmingham. This week, they turned operations over to their successors.

Officially named as co-presidents of Bayer Properties after a two-year transitionary period are Jami Wadkins and Libby Lassiter who served as chief financial officer and executive VP of leasing and development, respectively. Both will continue in their regular duties after assuming the management reins.

Wadkins has retail roots, having served as director of finance for Books A Million from 1998 to 2005, when she joined Bayer as controller and rose up the ranks.

Lassiter arrived at the Birmingham company around the same time as Wadkins following a 10-year career at General Growth Properties.
