Just-A-Buck non-profit opens in Midtown Plaza

6/17/2009

Tarrytown, N.Y. DLC Management Corp. said a Just-A-Buck franchise store has opened in Midtown Plaza, Parma, Ohio.

According to center owner DLC, it is the first retail store to be owned by a non-profit organization for individuals who have disabilities. The Cuyahoga County Board of Mental Retardation and Developmental Disabilities’ non-profit arm, S.A.W., Inc., purchased the Just-A-Buck franchise to provide disabled men and women an opportunity to work and receive retail job training.

“Our goal is to find ways to employ people with mental retardation and other disabilities, the backbone of which is finding jobs for people to do with area employers (whether at factories, hospitals, businesses, etc.). The dollar store concept is proving to be extremely successful for us,” said Lula Holt Robertson, general manager of public information and communication for CCBMR/DD.
