Ikea is giving new meaning to do-it-yourself retailing.
The home furnishings giant will open a pop-up DIY restaurant in the Shoreditch section of London where patrons will build their own meals, serving as the chef and preparing food for their group.
The pop-up restaurant, called “The Dining Club,” will be open from Sept. 10 to Sept. 25. It will offer cooking sessions — for brunch, lunch, or dinner — where various trained head chefs will supervise customers’ preparation of a meal for a group of up to 20 people. The space will also feature a cafe serving Swedish delicacies.
