Houston Kroger store expanded, remodeled

7/20/2010

New York City Centro Properties Group said Monday that the Kroger store in its Merchants Park Shopping Center in Houston has completed a comprehensive expansion and remodeling project.

The newly expanded 89,000-sq.-ft. store, which opened June 9, is the grocer’s largest in Houston proper. It features enhanced in-store departments as well as a drive-thru pharmacy lane, fuel center, Starbucks Coffee shop and lounge area with free Wi-Fi.

Merchants Park is nearing completion of its $7-million two-part redevelopment. The first phase reconfigured the shopping center to accommodate a new 30,000-sq.-ft. Ross Dress for Less and a 9,000-sq.-ft. O’Reilly Auto. The second phase included the expansion of Kroger as well as the construction of approximately 9,500 sq. ft. of additional retail space. The new retail building, still under construction, is slated for completion in September.

Some of the new retailers who have executed leases in the new building at Merchants Park include GNC, Sally Beauty Supply, and Subway. Tuesday Morning, another new retailer to the center, has also recently opened.
