Hhgregg expands in D.C. area

Washington, D.C. Hhgregg has signed leases for several additional stores in the D.C. area, according to the brokerage firm H & R Retail representing the company.

The retailer has signed for a total of 471,395 sq. ft. in Virginia and Maryland. The stores are a mix of former Circuit City locations and other vacant properties.

According to H & R spokeswoman Julie Booher, Hhgregg has not announced opening dates for any of the stores, but they will open sometime during 2010.

The company first staked its claim on the region by opening up a distribution center in Prince George’s County late last year, which brought 100 jobs to the area.

The company is still on the lookout for additional area sites.
