Hackett’s to launch new concept store

Ogdensburg, N.Y. Local New York department store retailer Hackett's said Friday it is planning to launch a new concept store in Queensbury, N.Y., later this year.

Company president and CEO Herbert Becker said the location will be called HIIO, and will offer brand-name clothing, shoes, gifts and a kosher food department.

Becker said the 25,000-sq.-ft. store would create between eight and 12 jobs and is slated to open this summer.

Hackett's operates four department stores in the St. Lawrence, N.Y., area. It also runs a hardware subsidiary, Patrick Hackett Hardware Co., which is seeking Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection.
