Google makes impressive store debut in Manhattan
Google has “popped up” in the SoHo section of downtown Manhattan with a temporary store that is all about experience.
The outpost, called "Made by Google,” is designed as a showcase for the company’s expanding line of electronic devices, and give visitors a chance to try out and experience its latest devices. The store does not sell any products, however. For that, customers will have to shop online or go to Best Buy.
The super-sleek space features Google full lineup, including its just-released Pixel smartphone Daydream View virtual reality headset, and the Google Home smart speaker (a competitor to the Amazon Echo). Products are shown in differently styled of the space.
There are, for example, modern-styled living room and kitchen vignettes where visitors can test Google Home devices.
In another area of the store, visitors can sit on low-to-the-floor swivel chairs and try out the virtual reality headsets.
