Golfsmith to expand in Kansas

Austin, Texas Golfsmith International Holdings will fill a 40,000-sq.-ft. space in Overland Park, Kan., that was vacated by bankrupt Circuit City Stores.

According to a local broker, Golfsmith was represented in the lease transaction by Carl LaSala of LaSala-Sonnenberg Commercial Realty Co. in Overland Park.

During a Jan. 13 earnings call, Golfsmith International said it would open four new stores this year. The store openings are one of five 2010 revenue growth initiatives planned by the company, whose net income dropped to $63.9 million during the fourth quarter compared with $67.8 million in the year-ago quarter.
