There’s an artsy home linens player in town, and comes complete with a French accent.

French home décor and lifestyle brand Madura, best known for its artful and colorful decorative pillows, has opened a flagship in New York City’s Flatiron neighborhood. It’s the opening salvo in the family-run company’s expansion efforts in the United States.

“This flagship is one component of our growth strategy, which will also include retail and wholesale partners in the effort to bring Madura to this market,” said Charles-Henri Cousin, Madura’s managing director in the United States.

The three-story, 3,000-sq.-ft. colorful store features two 20-foot walls that display the company’s signature decorative pillows, which come in a myriad of designs and fabrications and a rainbow of colors. Over 300 pillows are featured. Shoppers can browse through pillow covers at an interactive station, the “pillow bar,” on the first floor.

In addition, Madura features an extensive selection of curtains and sheers and decorative hardware, along with bed linens, bath towels and gift items. Reportedly, it also will soon add an exclusive furniture collection.

Madura operates 47 stores worldwide, including one other U.S. location, on Manhattan’s Upper East Side.
