Food Lion set to expand breadth in South Carolina with store acquisition

4/27/2018
An Ahold Delhaize USA division is about to expand its presence in the Palmetto State.

Food Lion is acquiring four Bi-Lo stores from Southeastern Grocers that operate in Greater Myrtle Beach, Florence, and Columbia, South Carolina. Southeastern Grocers filed for bankruptcy protection on March 27.

All locations will operate as Bi-Lo stores until the transaction is complete. The deal is expected to close in late May. Food Lion already has approximately 70 stores in South Carolina.

"We are so excited to add these four new locations to our network of nearly 70 stores serving the greater Myrtle Beach, Florence and Columbia areas," said Food Lion president, Meg Ham. “With the addition of these four new stores, we have an even greater opportunity to serve more customers with fresh, quality products at affordable prices every day with the caring, friendly service they expect from Food Lion."

Food Lion, which is a division of Ahold Delhaize USA, has more than 1,000 stores in 10 Southeastern and Mid-Atlantic states.
