eBay has come up with a clever solution to help Americans solve a common dilemma: what to do about unwanted holiday gifts.
The online marketplace retailer will operate pop-up selling stations in three select Westfield shopping centers across the country during “Boxing Weekend” from Dec. 26 (Boxing Day) to Dec. 27. The stations will be located at Westfield San Francisco Centre, San Francisco; Westfield Garden State Plaza, Paramus, New Jersey; and Westfield Hawthorn Center, Vernon Hills, Illinois.
In addition to the pop-ups, consumers with gifts to sell can also eBay’s professional selling service, eBay Valet. A number of Westfield centers will feature eBay drop boxes during the special promotion.
“We’ve made it easy to sell in-person, online, on the eBay app or with the eBay Valet service over Boxing Weekend,’ said Vincent Payen, head of consumer selling at eBay. Whether it was a designer sweater that didn’t fit, or an older tablet that has been replaced by a new one, there is always a buyer among our global community of 159 million for whom it will be perfect.”
eBay Valet handles everything from estimating the price to taking pictures, listing the item and safely shipping it to a new buyer. During Boxing Weekend, eBay Valet fees will be waived. Customers who print an eBay Valet label will get to keep 100% of the profits after their items are sold.
