10/19/2009

Tarrytown, N.Y. DLC Management Corp. said Monday it has received an award on behalf of Eastover Shopping Center’s participation in the 2009 “National Night Out” crime and drug prevention event, which took place on Aug. 4.

Local communities around the country hold this event on the same night each year, bringing together law enforcement agencies, local officials, neighborhood organizations, businesses and citizens to educate about crime and drug prevention.

Eastover Shopping Center, located in Oxon Hill, Md., is home to the Eastover Police Station which ran the event for the local communities of Prince George’s County, Md.

The goals of National Night Out are to heighten crime and drug prevention awareness, generate support and participation in local anti-crime programs, strengthen neighborhood spirit and police-community partnerships, and to send a message to criminals that neighborhoods are organized and fighting back.

Each year thousands of communities participate from all 50 states, U.S. territories, Canadian cities, as well as military bases around the globe.
