Dunkin' Donuts opened 171 new U.S. stores in 2009

Canton, Mass. Dunkin' Donuts said Monday that it opened 171 new stores in the United States last year.

The chain said it is working for greater exposure in the markets it already serves and also entered a few new markets such as Louisville, Ky.; Birmingham, Ala.; and Dayton, Ohio.

Dunkin' Donuts opened 351 new locations worldwide and had 131 new signed franchise commitments in the United States in 2009.

The company's international expansion includes new stores in China; Korea; Thailand; the United Arab Emirates; and the Bahamas.
