Drug store giant enters Colorado

6/1/2017

CVS Pharmacy opened its first store in the Centennial State.

CVS Pharmacy’s newest location resides in Parker, Colorado. It is the first of three stores slated to open in the greater Denver market this year.

"CVS Pharmacy is proud to be a part of the Colorado community, offer-ing convenient access to best-in-class pharmacy services and a shopping experience truly dedicated to helping people on the path to better health," CVS Pharmacy senior VP field operations Hank Casillas said. "Because health services and pharmacy are at the heart of everything we do, we have created a shopping destination that offers the best assortment of health, beauty and wellness products and better-for-you snacks.”

Though CVS Pharmacy saw the launch of 39 locations within Target stores in Colorado in 2016, the Parker location is the first retail location for the chain. The new store will feature a pharmacy, as well as various front-store features that CVS Pharmacy rolled out in April as part of its customer experience overhaul.

These features include better-for-you food offerings that include trend zones featuring foods that customers might expect to find at a specialty food store. It also includes elevated beauty offerings that include such store-brand product lines as CVS Health, Beauty 360, Essence of Beauty, Promise Organic and Blade — all of which are working to phase out parabens, phthalates and formaldehyde donors by the end of 2019.

The store also will feature a wide assortment of OTC items and vitamins and supplements, as well as customer-driven personalization. Customers with an ExtraCare card will have access to special offers and coupons, paperless receipts and the ability to opt-in to earn Beauty ExtraBucks re-wards and Pharmacy & Health Rewards.

The next two Colorado locations — in Littleton and Denver — are set to open this summer.
