DLC Management solidifies grocer anchor commitments

Tarrytown, N.Y. DLC Management Corp. announced it has forged new leasing or redevelopment deals with three national supermarket chains.

The Food Lion anchor at Broad River Centre in Columbia, S.C., has undergone an interior and exterior renovation of its 29,000-sq.-ft. store. Upgrades included new facade signage, interior paint, tile, refrigeration and storage units, fixtures, and restrooms.

Giant Food, located at Eastover Shopping Center in Oxon Hill, Md., completed a 12-week renovation period as part of the company’s three-year “Project Refresh” investment plan, in which it is remodeling or replacing over 100 of its 181 stores. Giant completed a full interior remodeling of the store, which included: wall reconfigurations and new wall coverings, fresh paint, new fixtures, expanded organic and international foods sections, redesigned floral department, and the addition of a PNC Bank branch inside the store.

“We are delighted that our grocery chain partners are investing in their stores across our portfolio,” said Adam Ifshin, DLC president. “It shows, in demanding times, their commitment to our locations and helps drive traffic to our shopping centers.”

In addition to grocery store renovations, DLC has also added a new supermarket to its list of deals completed in 2009. On Oct. 15, Piggly Wiggly signed onboard as the new grocery anchor (and the first store in DLC’s portfolio) at The Shoppes at Letson Farms in McCalla, Ala.

The new 43,442-sq.-ft. grocery store opened on Nov. 17.
