Danish discounter growing its U.S. store base

8/11/2016

Flying Tiger Copenhagen is expanding its footprint in the United States.

Known for its quirky, fun and ever-changing assortment of Danish-designed goods, the discounter is set to open on New York City's Upper West Side on Aug. 13. The 2,000-sq.-ft. store will be the brand's fourth location in the New York area.

"The opening of our Upper West Side store is a key milestone in Flying Tiger Copenhagen's development,” said Xavier Vidal, CEO of Flying Tiger Copenhagen. “We have a solid strategy built on a unique and authentic concept that has allowed us to successfully open four New York stores in a very short time."

Flying Tiger landed in the United States in June 2015, in Manhattan’s Flatiron district.

Flying Tiger opened its first store in 1995, in Copenhagen, where the company is still based. In 2015, the retailer opened more than two new stores every week. It currently operates more than 650 stores in 28 countries.
