CVS to expand in Puerto Rico

Woonsocket, R.I. CVS Caremark Corp. announced on Thursday that it plans to expand into Puerto Rico this year, opening nine stores in the U.S. territory that will create about 400 jobs.

The first two stores in San Juan and Bayamon will open Monday.

Later in the year, it plans to open two other stores in Bayamon, with other locations in Arecibo; Dorado; Fajardo; Vega Alta; and Vega Baja.

The company had 7,025 drug stores as of Dec. 31.
