City Sports to open Washington, D.C. flagship
Boston Sports and lifestyle retailer City Sports said Tuesday that it will open a Washington, D.C. flagship retail store in the Georgetown area in December.
The new location will be City Sports’ fourth District-area location and 18th store in the Northeast.
"Our new store will reflect the unique character of the neighborhood and deliver the legendary City Sports experience customers have come to expect from us," said Jeffrey Connor, president and CEO, City Sports.
The 10,434-sq.-ft. store will span two floors, and will include such architectural features as exposed brick, concrete and metal, as well as will incorporate areas for product testing and interactive hotspots.
Special features of the Georgetown store will include interactive zones that will offer shoppers the use of in-store iPads to access media, product information and the company's website, an electronics department where shoppers can test different brands, and a "refuel" bar for energy food and sports drinks. The shop will also include a locker area, where participants in City Sports classes and activities can store their belongings, and a "parking room" for customers' bikes and strollers.
