Carter's to open 100 stores

4/30/2010

Atlanta Children’s apparel manufacturer and retailer Carter’s plans to add nearly 100 stores in the next two years, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported.

In a rollout that includes both the Carter’s and Oshkosh B’Gosh banners, the company expects to add 45 additional locations this year and 55 in 2011, the newspaper said. Carter’s built 28 new stores in 2009, bringing the total to 281 Carter’s and 172 OshKosh stores.

“Our opportunity for growth in more conventional, non-outlet environments is significant,” said James Petty, Carter’s retail president, according to the report. Petty told analysts that the company wants to move beyond its current outlet mall environments to strip and lifestyle centers.
