Brookshire opens 25 smaller-format stores

9/14/2016

Brookshire Grocery Co. is expanding its portfolio with a new, smaller-store store format.

The chain held three ribbon-cutting ceremonies on Sept. 13, completing the openings of 25 new Spring Market stores in Texas. The stores are located on former Walmart Express sites, which Brookshire acquired in July.

The stores bring Brookshire’s total store count to 177.

The 12,000-sq.-ft. Spring Market stores offer customers a full shopping experience with produce, market, dairy, bakery, grocery and health and beauty care items, as well as fuel centers in a convenient, easy-to-shop layout.

“The name “Spring Market” represents and honors the company’s 88-year history which began with the opening of its first store on Spring Avenue in Tyler, Texas, on Sept. 1, 1928.

Spring Market stores are now open in the Texas cities of Anson, DeKalb, Diana, Edgewood, Frankston, Godley, Grandview, Haskell, Hughes Springs, Italy, Kemp, Leonard, Lone Star, Merkel, Naples, Palmer, Redwater, Waskom, Whitewright and Winters. Louisiana Spring Markets stores are located in Colfax, Iowa, Lake Arthur, Mamou and Zwolle.

Brookshire Grocery Co. operates 177 stores in three states — Texas, Louisiana and Arkansas.
